Certified School Safety Manager (CSSM) recognizes educators and security professionals who demonstrate safety management skills and are responsible for facilitating safety across multiple departments.

Developed by subject matter experts in occupational health and safety and education, with the support of NASSLEO, this certification is the first of its kind for safety professionals working in education.

After Jan. 1, 2017, CSSM exams will evaluate knowledge of:

  • Budgeting
  • Labor Relations
  • Disaster Management
  • Other Safety and Security management topics

Summary of Requirements

  • Degreed Professionals in Education, Safety, or Security Related Fields + as little as 2 years of experience
  • Other Degreed Professionals + some experience depending on education level
  • Hold CSHM or Equivalent Certification = Eligible to Sit for Exam
  • Options for other Certified Professionals
  • Valid Government Issued Identification” is required for Certification.
