Questionnaire -

1. Why you would like to be an ISHM Board Member

Response: I spent most of my professional career as an educator. I am currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (2005-present), before which I was an Assistant, then Associate Professor at West Virginia University (1996-2005). I understand how students work, and know how to help them excel in their career. I strongly feel that my membership on the board, we can cater to students, and help them become professionals and colleagues in the future.

In addition, I'm highly educated and posses strong skills in management, and dealing with people. My experience is over a large area that can benefit the board. From engineering, consulting, expert witnessing, education, economist, etc., I understand how the field of S&H works.

2. What skills and experience that you will bring to the board to enhance the organization and the CSHM / ASHM certifications.

Response: I'm an experienced and capable researcher and educator with specific knowledge concerning a wide variety of occupational safety and health programs in general, Construction, and in Ergonomics in specific. I have acted as PI and Co-PI for a number of grants and projects. I have also been involved in curriculum development, authoring book chapters, professional journal articles, website development and maintenance, and a variety of other publications. I am also involved with non-credit and continuing-Ed centers such as (Texas Engineering Extension (TEEX), and the College of the Mainland (COM). I have chaired Master's Thesis committees and advised students in the fields of Safety & Health, and Ergonomics. In addition to my interests in ABET-related activities such as becoming a PEV, I also have specific interests in research activities involving ergonomics, construction safety, general industry safety, vibration-related ergonomics, EMG, and office ergonomics. I hold 5 degrees and 4 prominent certifications including the CSHM. I believe I bring a lot to the table.
